Listening Blog directions for CS4:
Each student is required to listen to 5 hours of American audio each week. You may listen to the radio while you drive your car, or you may watch TV at home. You may even go see an American movie at the theatre. You may also go to YouTube.com, Google Video, or anywhere else on the Internet, and find an audio or video file.
Every time you do one listening (one movie, one TV show, one radio program, etc…) you must go to the CS4 blog and write the following information:

REACTION:
I liked this episode of Survivor because it was interesting and I learned many new words.
NEW WORD/PHRASE:
"On your mark, get set, go." This is a phrase used when people are about to start a race. A person yells it and then when he says "go" everybody must race.

Although Trevor died in the final scene, his idea also spreads all over the U.S.
Reaction:
I think this movie is really good. This little boy thinks a good idea to help people. One people help three people and than this three people help another three people. There are many people waiting for help in this society. If our world people can start this movement, I think the world will be a peace world.

This is an adventure movie. The story talk about Will Station is chosen by four people. These four people want him find six clues to fight Dark. But when the Dark to govern the world time is coming, these four people are worried about they choose the right people to be a warrior or not. Will has to find six clues, but he only find five clues. When the Dark thinks it is the time to govern this world, Will finds the last clue is his body. He finally defeats Dark.
Reaction:
I think this adventure movie is really good. One little child can defeat his fear to fight with bad people. I think he is really brave. If children see this movie, I think they would want to be this kind of hero in the world.

Reaction: Life is just like a book,nobody no how thick it is; How many chapters it has;Perhaps some day there is a candle fall down on the table and burn it all. Perhaps some day there is a cup of water splash out and ruin it all....We can not know what will happen during we write our own book. The only thing that we can do is, before we find the last chapter, we have to do our best to write. However, except to the book more and more solid and exciting, we have to let ourself has the courage to stop our pen and finish it.

This show talks about how product is made, shows us a product process. And this week, it shows that products are deep-cycle battery, tin can, lens, hoof, dish-washer and frozen pizza. It shows us general process because some details are secret, so it can’t show it to audience.
Reaction:
I like to know that is product process because I always curious about some products process. So, when I know this show. I was very happy and excited. I know how a factory makes a lot of products. When I watched a product process, sometimes I was surprised because it was over my image.

I think that this movie is interesting and the graphics are so much realistic.

Then unfortunately, her fiancé run away and they already booked the hotel and ceremony place in shelter island. Ted and Stella decided to take their place and get married in three days without consideration. However, it was not a happy ending because Ted invited Robin, his ex-girlfriend and Tony, Stella’s ex-boyfriend to attend their wedding. Robin tried to persuade Ted not to marry, but she failed. As a result, she left. On her way off the island, she happened to see Stella and her ex-boyfriend kissing on the ship.
Reaction
Ted was very faithful to Stella and I’m sorry to see it end. Sometimes making sacrifices doesn’t mean you will get good return. The relationship of people is just like predicting the weather; you never know when things will turn for the worse. The most important thing to do is not invite past partners to the wedding because that person in the past could remind you of past pleasures and make you hesitant to marry.

Actually the guy was injured badly several years ago and he changed his face and fingerprint with the help of a surgeon doctor who asked him to make the bomb. Finally, the truth came out that this surgeon doctor was using a teenager to steal clothes for money, but the girl was too greedy to keep it a secret. As a result, he planned to kill the girl.
Reaction
I like watching it because every episode always surprises me and lures me to keep on watching. It is like a puzzle and I enjoy watching the process of working it out. However, sometimes it didn’t make sense. For example, the professor took the phone of the girl’s friend without her permission that was against the law. It’s just a TV show that is hard to compare with the true cases.

The episode was about the contestants who were asked to create advertising commercials about Paris Hilton’s products in order to show their ability to master a business and endure the criticisms. Brittany and Corrie won the competition and they got a lot of products from Paris. After this, they had another challenge that was to find who was the fakest. After testing the contestants, Perez made a list of them and showed Corrie was the fakest girl and Onch was the second. The result really shocked Paris, but she had to kick out one person between Corrie and Onch. In order to show his honesty, Onch took off his make-up in front of Harris. However, he still went home.
Reaction
I don’t like Onch at all because he is a gay and lives in front of a mirror. It’s hard to make close friends with a boy for a famous rich woman. In fact, I think Paris Hilton is fake because her smile didn’t come out from the heart.

Peter who come from the future shot his brother Nathen. Syler stole healing ability from Claire. And Mohinder found that those abilities were not genetic. At Last, Hiro got a paper and videotape from his father, but it was stolen by speedster.
Reaction:
My favorite TV show is Heroes. I think every people has thought if they have special ability. This show is a story that this thinking is realized. I already watched season 1 and 2, but this episode makes me confused. I didn't figure out main point of season 3 and couldn't forecast next episode. So, I want to see next episode asap.

Reaction :
I don't want to see Matt and Julie couple have a problem. However, I am excited about this new season. This show made me crazy about Football and I could know about the typcial American high school students' life through this Drama, especially in Summer.

"The Pursuit of Happyness" -- the title comes from a misspelled schoolhouse mural -- has a lot on its mind but mostly this: If America is about the promise of bettering oneself, why does it have to be so hard? In the movie, Jefferson's Declaration of Independence words about happiness kept recurring to Chris Gardner. Every day, Christ had to work hard from morning until night, but still could hardly make good live. Chris saw a bunch of suits, mostly male, pouring out of the Dean Witter Reynolds brokerage firm in downtown San Francisco. They all looked “happy,” “Why not me? “ Christ wondered. He did have an adorable boy, Christopher, but wife Linda was becoming a scarecrow of overworked anxiety. Finally, his wife left Christ because of life pressure, leaving him and her five-year-old son, Christopher. And naturally, Christ became a single father.
With the failure of his business, Christ had no money to pay for the rent, so they were driven away from the flat. They became homeless. They slept in asylum, subway station public bathroom or anywhere as a temporary shelter. The destitution of life was absolutely depressing, but for his son’s future, for his own belief, Christ never gave up and he still strongly believed that happiness would come one day if he worked hard enough today.
With his great efforts, Christ won a six-month internship at Dean Witter, but there was no pay at all. So on one hand, Christ had to work hard to make a living; on the other hand, he had to fight for his intern work, since only one of the twenty interns would succeed finally. Besides, he had to take good care of his son after day care. However, Christ made it with his amazing power.
Christ was unfortunate, for he got a wife who was not understandable at all (though she has her own difficulties) and was in bad luck with his business. Nevertheless, he was also very fortunate, for he got a son who was very thoughtful and, he got his dream.
Reaction:
if you have dream, go and get it. Never give up. That is what i learned from this movie.

Anchorman that nobody know. Finally he convinces his black-American friend
And starts to rap in national television about politics and why people have to vote.
Meanwhile Liz and Dennis are dating again. Dennis saved a person in a train railroad
And become popular in New York. Liz needs that news and tries to understand why Dennis is so stupid.
Reaction:
I really enjoyed this episode. Is funny to know that Jack is obsessed with Chuck Norris and Bruce Willis. He wanted this people to be part of the Republican Party advertisement. Jack’s friend had a vision with Nixon that is one of the reasons that he wanted to sing in national T.V. in my opinion very funny.

Summary:
This infomercial talks about Barack Obama’s biography, explaining his carrier, goals if he is elected as a president and even talks about his personal life. His life is explained to the audience with audio, photos and videos. One of the most important facts of this infomercial is that Obama chose 5 different American families with different problems. Obama tries to explain the problem that America has and at the same time he gives a message of change. At the end of the Infomercial, He stands in front of a crowd in Florida saying: “now is the time, now is the time for change”. Later on CNN news network, started to talk about this new type of advertisement. Republican and democrats gave their opinion about it. Democrat representative said: “was a good move, no matter how you spend that campaign money, the only thing that matter is to do it right”. On the other hand the republican said that Barack Obama was acting as a “conservative”.
Reaction: In my opinion was a clever decision to make an infomercial about Obama’s personal achievements and future goals if elected. This is why T.V. is a really strong media in our time. The influence of making that video could change the decision of many Americans. Was a great video, good editing, the camera angles and shot where perfect and the photographs outstanding. I can tell that this infomercial was made with a big budget, the quality is amazing. Nice ad and God bless America.

Miranda is Carry’ friend, she is one of the successful lawyers, she has a son and husband. Unfortunately she gets a divorce from her husband. Samanda is also Carry’s friend, she is fall in love with man, who is 10years younger than her and they leave Hollywood, but she miss her friends. Thus, she goes back New York City. Charlotte is Carry’s friend too. She is sterility, but she overcomes sterility. Thus, she is pregnant with her first child.
Reaction
Sex and the City is one of the famous dramas in U.S. before few months ago, it is made in movie. When I watched the movie, I was possessed by elderly women’ love story and friendship. The four women have a great job and unique individuality, so through the movie, I can see successful women’ life, ambition and friendship.

I heard Obama’ speech and pledges on T.V. Obama’s pledges are to cut tax, to support education cost, and to give insurance to American citizens. First his pledge is to cut tax. American citizens need to a tax cut. Second, American education fee is expensive, so poor people do not have right to learn something, because they do not have enough money. This poor people cannot get a job, so they go to other countries to get a job. Thirdly, all American citizens do not have medical insurance, so when poor people hurt somewhere, they cannot receive treatment.
Reaction
Barack Obama is the Democratic presidential nomination. He is a strong candidate and he has strong pledges. I think that the next president may be Barack Obama. Furthermore, his pledges are realistic. He can increase the American economy. Even he is a black man, most citizens forget it. On account of they know that his pledges are real.

Reaction:
The infomercial is very successful. He has very good intonation, body language and eye connect. When he wants to let audience to know his point, he makes his voice up. He doesn’t use too much body language at his speech. I mean that he has prefect time to use his body language. The infomercial does not just him to support his policies. It is a person who works at motor factory in Kentucky talks about Obama’s healthy care. This part is good because it gives audience to comprehend his plan would be working. At the end, he say let we change the U.S., change the world. It makes the infomercial going to top hot.

Listening 1, Length 1:30 Title: The Fugitive
Today, I watched a movie called the fugitive by Harrison Ford. One day, he come back home and saw that his wife killed by a one-armed man who did not left the house after he committed the crime. He fought with the man and took off his arm. Falsely accused to have killed his wife, Ford, (Dr. Richard Kimble) was determined to prove his innocence by leading the investigations. He escaped from the prison during a transfer of prisoners and started his researches. The police after him, he succeeded to prove his innocence by using the information of the broken arm.
This movie was really interesting, the suspense was on top and I learnt from it that there is always a way to solve a problem. Even if people are against you, keep on doing what you do because it is the only way by which you can affirm your personality or prove the opposite of what people think of you.

Summary:
On October, it is a most important thing for baseball fans which is the World Series 2008. It is seven games at this series. If a team won this series game, it would make team’s city to craze. However, the game 5 was very important for both teams because if Phillies win the game 5, Phillies would get the champion, but Phillies have created 126 years, it just won two champions. If Rays won this game, it still has opportunity to win the World Series.
Reaction:
Actually, I supported Rays, the reason was very easy because I didn’t like red color. When I watched the game, I felt that Rays player had a good consciousness, they never gave up, but they were too young so that they had some smell hide mistake. It made Rays loss the game. However, Rays is young team (just 23 years old, it compare with Phillies(126 years old) or Yankees( over 90 years old)), it still has chance to win the World Series.

This infomercial was very interesting and smart,because through this infomercial Obama showed us a lot of aspect of him with a lot of different ways. Also,he showed us he was ready to be a president, and already had the ability to change this counry. All of this thing what did he say or do,was very powerful to let people to believe him and vote.Just like he said:"If I can be the president I will always tell you what I think everyday. Reaction:
I think this commercial is focus on Obama’s policy. He’s policy is on jobless, health care, oil price and economic. He tries to use this point to make people understand that he want to help every citizen.

After this informecial, there are two kinds of reaction. one is from democrat, and they said it was good chalenge and move. In opposite to them, repbluican blamed it was wrong way how to spend campaign money.
Reaction:
I think it is good chalenge. However, I think it is risky. He spent much money for this informecial. He is trying to repesent for middle class, but giving much money to big broadcasting company for this informecial doesn't match with his image. Except his policy, his way is looked he is republican.

This drama talk Russ ex-girlfriend tells him that she is pregnant. This baby is Russ’s kid. But Russ ex-girlfriend’s girlfriend wants to bring up this child and she wants to give the kid the special name. Russ thinks this kid’s name must put his family name but his ex-girlfriend insists put her and her girlfriend’s family name. In the other way, Rachel gives back the ring to her ex-fiancé. Her ex-fiancé doesn’t blame her that she runs away from the wadding ceremony because he loves Rachel’s bridesmaid. He also goes to honeymoon tour with her bridesmaid.
Reaction:
This drama is really funny. I think this is also one of America classical drama. Also, I can learn some words or idioms here. This drama is suit for whole family to watch it. We can watch one part and discuss.

The Incredible is a comic S.F and it is about how life would be if there were superpowers. There is one special family in the movie. The family members have individual specific abilities. The movie’ main characters are Mr. Incredible, Elastic girl, Violet, Dash, and Jack Jack. They are family and they save world from villains to use their special abilities. Mr. Incredible has the ability if marvelous strength. Elastic girl has the ability to move her elastic body. Violet has the ability to change an invisible man. Dash has the ability of exorbitant speed. Jack Jack has the ability to change to someone.
Reaction
It is my favorite American movie. The movie was put out in 2004 and it is a Hollywood animation that is made by Disney Pixar. Also, it is most elaborate 3D animation. When I feel bad, I usually watch the movie, because when I watch the movie, my feeling is getting better. The movie is the most exciting movie, so it would be fine to see this movie again.

Reaction:
I liked this movie because i am very fond of action movies.
I listened to movie called ‘Indiana Jones.’

Summary- It is about a man, Indiana Jones, who studies for remains, and the crystal skull. One day, Indiana kidnapped by Russian soldiers. The Russians wanted to find crystal skull because they believed the skull gave them the incredible power, if they returned to original place, city of Gold. Indiana, his wife, son, a professor and Russian started the travel. Finally, when they returned it, they met alien. The bad Russians were killed by alien, and Indiana, his wife, son and a professor escaped safely.
Reaction- I think this movie is a little ridiculous because it was action at first. But, gradually this story was going to comic movie. Moreover, suddenly aliens appeared. It has nothing to do with this story, I think. However, at the bright sight, background and actors were very nice. All of things like jungle and the castle seemed realistic. Thus, it is not horrible but little funny.

Summary:
There are two men and one dead men between them in the bathroom. they are chained by their ankles to pipes. And then they found a tape player and listen to the voice of Jigsaw who is crazy killer. For escaping from there, they try to do everything. However, thoese are not enough to escape. Finally, jigsaw induces one man kills another man, and it is realized. when one who alive tries to escape by cutting his ankle, a dead man between two men wakes up and shot him. And it is game over.
Reaction:
Saw is one of my favorite move. whenever I see this move, I think it is well-made movie. At first time, it was hard to expect the ending. The ending was very fresh and shocking. Because of hard expecting ending, I like the saw series.

I thought this infomercial includes a lot of emotional appeal. We should be reasonal.
I listened to movie called ‘Invasion.’

Summary- The main actor is Nicole Kidman. One day, the rocket fell down on the ground with unidentified organism. It spread quickly into human. It could get rid off feeling. If people were infected and they slept, they would change. Nicole and her boy friend noticed it so she ran away with her son and boyfriend. Also, they were trying to be clam because if they sweated and acted like they have feeling, others got infection would follow them. However, Nicole and her boyfriend found the medicine to cure it. This episode is really exiting because the protagonist is fighting against a force that is almost indestructible. Itsigo never gave up and fought with a lot of courage and heart. The way of the peaceful warrior is the best movie ever! This movie is a big influence in my life. When I am in an important soccer match I just remember the quotes of the movie for example: “with do you have Dan? “This moment”. This makes me feel good and energetic while playing soccer. In life has a deep message, and that is what I like. Maybe I had seen this movie a couple of times but I never get boring. I have the same feeling as when I saw it the first time, just perfect.

That’s odd. Why did CSI continue to work on this case and find the headmaster of the Russian gang? If the gang really wanted to kill the girl, why is she still alive for the police to find her?

Summary and reaction:
The movie opens with Forrest sitting at a bus stop, waiting to go see Jenny after being apart from her for years. Who is Jenny, you ask? We'll get to that in a minute. Forrest strikes up a conversation or two with the people that come and wait for the bus with him. Or, more accurately, he keeps talking regardless of whether anybody is listening or not. The movie plays out as a flashback, with Forrest taking us through all the major events of his life and narrating them.
The flashback starts when Forrest is a little boy, about six years old or so, just at about the age where he should be starting school. We get to take a look at Forrest's childhood as he gets leg braces to straighten out his back, as his momma (Field) fights (and does a few other things) to get him into public school, and as he meets for the first time the love of his life. Jenny. He meets her on the way to school, sitting next to her on the bus, and they strike up a friendship immediately.
Eventually we progress to the point where Forrest and Jenny are in high school, and we travel along with Forrest as he makes it onto the football team and gets to go to college. Forrest and Jenny never date, but he's always there to protect her. Anytime he thinks she's in trouble, he rushes to the rescue, ready to beat the ever-loving snot out of anyone who even looks at his Jenny wrong. I think one of my favorite scenes in the movie is when someone is dumb enough to slap Jenny. The film goes slow motion, Forrest's eyes go wide, and he starts charging at this guy like a runaway locomotive, and has the striking force of one too. Watching him beat the crap out of that guy is hilarious.
As Forrest grows up and goes through school, college, the army, a Vietnam tour, becomes a ping pong celebrity, a shrimp boat captain, and eventually one of the richest men out there, he also gets to take a few stops in history as the filmmaker gives us his own spin of how he thinks history would have happened if Forrest Gump were there. He gets to meet the President three times, he's the man who exposes the Watergate scandal, he's at the school doors when Governor George Wallace tries to get some Negroes into a white school, and so on and so forth. It's really funny the way they manipulate historical footage to insert Forrest into the events of the past.

Now people are so afraid of the politics of president Bush that if they choose mcclain, they will have another 4 years of bad politics. People want change so they will choose Obama. It doesn’t seem fair that Obama and his party spent 1.7 million to release this infomercial, while they could spend this sum of money on improving American’s living standards. I think people dislike McCains association with Bush more than believing Obama really will change America. People want change so badly that they are willing to blindly vote for the other party’s candidate.
